Kate Caldwell, singer songwriter, acoustic guitarist, will be the featured performer at Dolly’s Coffeehouse at the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, Saturday, June 1st at 7:00pm. Growing up in Washington, D.C., Kate began singing at age 5 and hasn’t stopped since. Her broad musical experience includes acoustic guitarist and songwriter, choral soloist, song leader, and children’s choir director. This spring, Kate released her latest album Blue Jean Day, featuring 6 of her original songs and folk favorites by Joni Mitchell, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Cyndi Lauper, Sting, Gordon Bok, and more. This album joins three other recordings with her professional a cappella trio Trinitas, specializing in sacred music from the 9th to the 21st century. Visit katecaldwell.org for more information.

Since the early 1960’s, Kate began visiting her grandparents in Deer Isle during the summers, where she serves on the Board of the Stonington Opera House and performs regularly in the Blue Hill Peninsula. When not singing or playing music, Kate enjoys traveling to visit her three grandchildren and their parents and walking long distance walks.

The first hour will be open mic, where anyone is welcome to perform: music, mime, poetry, dance, etc. Performers are asked to arrive a few minutes early to sign up. There will be a brief intermission with refreshments, followed by Kate.

Donations benefit the Dolly Fisher Emergency Fund, which provides emergency fuel, food and utility help for households on the Blue Hill Peninsula and informing the public about other available resources. This fun evening is for all ages and will be held downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Admission is by free will offering. FMI: contact 374-2891.
