Please join us for our next Dinner and a Movie event! We will watch the film “Spare Parts,” which is a remarkable true story about a motley crew of teens in an impoverished high school. Thanks to the persistence of one particularly determined kid, they persuade a reluctant science teacher to help them organize a robotics club in order to enter an underwater robotics contest. With only nickels, dimes, and “Spare Parts,” but with a boat-load of ingenuity, these high school kids are able to challenge teams older, better-educated, and with far more funding, from several of the best universities in the country. The film and its brief epilogue touch on several issues that will ring the bells of those with a progressive agenda.
Bring a brown bag dinner, and come enjoy this delightful account of the phenomenal achievement of a quirky group of teenagers and their skeptical teacher working against ridiculous odds.
