| Greetings of peace and blessing! Like many people, I routinely get invitations – online, via robocall, or in the postal mail – to “Get out of debt!!” or “Consolidate your debts today!!!” Our scripture passages for tomorrow invite us to do the same, with one massive exception. They invite us to be indebted to others for love, and love alone. What freedom that would be, indeed! Whether our debts are financial, social, even political, imagine living as if you owed nothing to anyone but love. Freedom, yes, but also hard work, and the key to real liberation and well-being for all Christ’s beloveds. I hope to see you at church tomorrow, and happy Labor Day Weekend! Faithfully, Alison |
