Sunday Worship July 27, 2025
Grace and peace to you, from God our Creator and the Lord Jesus Christ!
The lectionary readings for tomorrow, from Genesis and from the Gospel of Luke, offer ways of regarding the subject of prayer from very different perspectives. How and what we are to pray may be a question many of us have asked, along with wondering whether our prayers have any effect. Whether prayers “work” in the sense of their having an immediate causal relationship with God’s actions may be a part of our difficulty in understanding. As we worship together, bringing our hearts to what we may call an altar of God’s love, we have the opportunity to offer our questions as well as our certainties and in all things to be united in God’s grace. With musical offerings from George Emlen, we also are able to rest our hearts in moments of meditative silence that may help us hear God’s replies to our yearning.
Blessings and peace, Lisa
We offer worship in-person as well as on Zoom. Coffee & tea are available after the church service. Masks are not required in the church but are encouraged when singing hymns.
