First Congregational is a non-creedal church, which means you don’t have to believe exactly what everyone else believes or check off all the boxes on some ancient text. We deepen faith by studying scripture, our tradition, science, current affairs . . . pretty much anything that helps us make meaning and change our lives and the lives of those around us for the better. First Congregational offers many opportunities outside of Sunday morning worship for members, visitors, and those interested in learning more about our church to explore questions of faith and to participate in activities that strengthen the covenant relationship we share with one another, with our church, and with our pastor.
Not Your Mama’s Bible Study

Are you interested in learning more about the Bible, but have had the idea that to read it with others means you should already know it, practically from memory? Have no fear! We read together on Thursdays from 10am to 11am in a very relaxed setting–even in your own home via Zoom if you’d like. Together we ask questions about the relevance of scripture to our lives today and challenge some of the ways we believe the Bible has been understood at different times in different places. We also celebrate the good news that is carried to us through the stories, poetry and revelation the Bible is. Check the eVisitor for Zoom information.
Youth Programs
We are currently working to develop new programming to serve the youth of our community, including Sunday morning programs for young children and weekday afternoon/evening activities for tweens and teens that focus on faith development in the areas of religious understanding, growth and compassion, and social justice. Some of the programs we’ve had in recent years and hope to continue are the Peaceable Kin-dom environmental summer camp week, holiday care packages for our neighbors at H.O.M.E., and programs that bring awareness and support to service organizations in our community and the wider world.
