Sunday Worship, March 7

What in this gift of life draws you into righteous anger?  How is it that we know righteousness when we think we see it?  Our scripture lesson from John can come as a surprise, and in its relatively shocking description of Jesus’ behavior in the temple, may lead our thoughts in a variety of directions.  In this season of Lent, one of our opportunities to turn around in behavior and to turn more fully toward God, we may be invited to have our own tables turned.  Come join us to know how we continue to be pushed and pulled into loving relationships by Jesus, even when it looks like anger.

Sunday Worship, February 21

We begin the season of Lent today, with reminders in Paul’s letter as well as our Gospel reading that choosing to live well is not easy!  So, the weeks between now and Easter celebration offer us an opportunity for reflection and for turning and re-turning to the right living we know is from God.  If that sounds like a lot to ask of ourselves, we can be reassured that even Jesus had to prepare for his ministry; even John needed to learn repentance.  So, as we gather following worship, we may want to speak of those things that are particular challenges to us and also those things that help to bolster our spirits.  How may we spend time this Lent making ourselves ready for service, and for joy?
